Apache Trading Post – Alpine, Texas

Step back in time by entering this rustic log cabin which houses a family oriented gift shop featuring Big Bend collectibles, books on the history and geology of the Big Bend, Mexico and Indian heritage.  Learn about how this area of the state was instrumental in the progression of settlers moving west to find the perfect place to live.

The Apache Trading Post houses the largest selection of topographic maps and three-dimensional relief maps highlighting the mountains of West Texas.

Petunia, Penelope and Pete along with Patches and Polkadot are the singing mules and burros that will entertain you while you bribe them with carrots!

There are great opportunities to get a picture of the kids petting a mule or sticking their heads through the cut-outs that are placed around the area just for those unforgettable pictures that will make you laugh for years to come.
