Austin Nature & Science Center – Austin, Texas

Zilker Park is the home of the Austin Nature & Science Center where you can explore the natural world.  Since 1960 the ANSC has provided nature exhibits, education programs and recreations resources for visitors as well as teachers and children of all ages.

The Center has a variety of live invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and birds (including raptors) for you to see.  Get to know the turkey vulture "Groucho" who has lived at the Center for 26 years and going strong.

The Naturalist Workshop affords the opportunity to explore the natural world, get a close-up look through microscopes and magnifying glasses and a balance to compare objects’ weight and identify the finds as directed by a field guide and looking and touching specimens.

The Trade Counter is where you would bring your favorite rock, seedpod, shell or other natural items and earn points for all that you learn about them.
The Trade Counter Hours: Wednesday thru Friday from 10 – 1.  Saturday 10 – 4.  It is found in the Visitor’s Pavilion.  Call 512-327-8181 for more information.

There are many things to see and do at the Nature and Science Center so make sure to take the time to visit.
